Every choice we make leads to an outcome, or consequence of some kind. We have several systems in place to help children see that respectful choices usually lead to positive outcomes, and disrespectful choices usually lead to negative outcomes.
Blue Tickets: Students earn blue tickets for expected respectful behavior. Each adult tries to hand out about 10 tickets each day.
Class Reward: When a class collects a predetermined number of blue tickets, the class can decide on a fun reward.
School Reward: When the school collects a predetermined number of blue tickets, Student Council decides on a fun, whole school reward.
Superstars: Students earn Superstars for respectful behavior that goes above and beyond expectations. Superstars are taped to the principal’s door for all to admire.
Shining Star: Each month, each teacher selects a student who has been consistently respectful to receive the Shining Star award at a whole-school assembly. Specials teachers choose a class to receive the award.
Positive Postcards: Each week, each staff member will send positive postcards to two students to recognize respectful behavior.
